The impulse to create these self-portraits was my inner resistance, which often makes it difficult for me to move. It paralyzes, gives a painful sense of isolation. I wanted to show the moments of overcoming it, using my face as a space for emotional exchange with the world, and the objects on it as metaphors of mental states.
